At the core of Intel Ireland is a passion for volunteering and community involvement. We are committed to making a positive impact throughout the local community and aiding charitable organisations with their success.
Every year we select two charities for our employees to dedicate their combined efforts towards – whether by providing volunteer time or raising funds through specially organised activities. For 2019, we selected Saplings Rathfarnham and Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue as our signature charities and this week we were delighted to present to them over €75,000 which was raised through a range of fundraising events that took place throughout the year. This money will be split evenly between the 2 organisations with each organisation receiving almost €38,000 to support them in the vital work they do.
In addition to the funds raised, over 2000 hours of employee volunteer time was provided to the charities in 2019 by over 400 individuals.
Highlights of the fundraising activities in 2019 included events such as the annual Intel Charity Cycle, which took place at the beginning of September, bake sales and fun runs. Another key event held in 2019 was ‘The Intel Oskars’ which took place in October and was a massive success, raising over €21,000 for the charities. Intel employees also supported the development of an Intel Occupational Therapy (OT) room at Saplings that will house state of the art equipment which is specially designed to help children achieve their maximum potential and to support their learning environment.
Intel employees also had the opportunity to support a key activity for the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue as they helped to assemble t-shirt packs in preparation for the annual ‘Walk the Line’ fundraising event which sees people take part in a day into night trek to raise money for the mountain rescue organisation. A number of Intel employees also participated in the walk itself.
On November 26th the monies raised were presented to representatives from both of the charities. The cheque handover was also attended by Intel employee charity ambassadors Catherine Doyle and Padraig O’Connor (Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue) and Yvonne Nolan (Saplings Rathfarnham).
External Relations Manager at Intel, Lisa Harlow, spoke at the cheque handover event and said “We are very proud of the efforts of our employees in supporting each of the charities this year, both through monies raised and through their time given. I hope that Intel’s support will make an impact on the wonderful work that is being done by the organisations and I look forward to keeping in touch with both and maintaining the relationships forged with Intel through the year”.
