Intel Ireland wins Prestigious NISO Safety Award

Intel Ireland wins Category 1 Electronic / Electrical Manufacturing Business award

At the annual National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) awards ceremony, which was held virtually on Friday 22nd of January, Intel Ireland won the “Category 1 ‘Electronic / Electrical Manufacturing Business Award” for safety excellence.

Intel’s award application was based on a detailed submission which exhibited and highlighted our safety culture that delivers best in class safety performance, using world class safety systems, manager engagement, individual ownership and personal accountability.

The All Ireland Occupational Safety Awards was established nationally in 1992 with 20 entries and have grown to become Ireland’s premier safety awards. The awards truly became an All Ireland affair when the Northern Ireland Safety Group (NISG) joined forces with the National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) in 1995. To date, well over two thousand, five hundred entries have been received. The awards are a recognition of workplace Health and Safety excellence and best in class safety performance at a National level.

During the awards ceremony, a number of companies that operate at the Intel campus in Leixlip – DB Schenker, TMM, JLL and CEC  – were also the recipients of prestigious awards.

Intel Ireland is delighted to receive this award and to be recognised, along with our suppliers, for excelling on our safety journey.

Employee Health, Safety, and Wellness at Intel
At Intel, we have long been known for our strong safety culture, particularly in our manufacturing operations.

Our health, safety, and wellness programs help employees enjoy a better quality of life and contribute to Intel’s success. Our ultimate goal is to achieve zero serious injuries through continued investment in and focus on our core safety programs and injury-reduction initiatives. The Intel Environmental, Health, and Safety Policy guides us to “provide a safe and injury-free workplace”—not only for our employees, but also for contractors working at our sites. Since 2001, we have maintained a companywide certification to the internationally recognised ISO 14001 standard to ensure our manufacturing sites maintain a comprehensive environmental, health, and safety (EHS) management system. In 2019, Intel demonstrated our commitment to continuous improvement in health and safety by successfully establishing a company-wide certification to ISO 45001 (building on our previous OHSAS 18001 registration), resulting in a fully integrated EHS management system under a unified multi-site registration.
