Local communities invited to submit their ideas to the Intel Pride of Place competition

Have you thought about starting a community project but lacked the funding to do so?

News Release

March 7, 2017

At Intel we strive to be an asset to the communities around the world where we live and work. We value our neighboring communities here in North Kildare, the home of our main campus in Ireland, and we are excited to launch our latest Pride of Place competition to support projects in these communities.

As part of the Pride of Place competition we are offering to support and fund a number of community based projects up to the value of €5,000 each and we want to hear your ideas that can help improve your organisation while also benefitting your local community.

Your idea could be anything from setting up a youth café that benefits other community members during the day to restoring an old building in your town and turning it into a new meeting space for community groups. How about adding a new feature to your town that would drive tourism in the area or passing on a skill from one generation to another? It could also be an idea of how to use technology to make your community more “smart” such as developing apps to show traffic flow, parking spaces indicator or when to water plants.

About the competition
The Pride of Place competition is about enriching the lives of people in our local communities of Leixlip, Celbridge and Maynooth by supporting projects that can help improve local organisatiosn while also benefitting the wider community. As part of the competition organisations from the eligible areas are invited to submit an idea for a community project. The organisation will be asked to share details of their idea, explain why it deserves to receive funding and how it will enrich the lives of people in the community. All applications received will then be judged by a panel of 3-5 judges who will be business professionals and community representatives. A maximum of 6 projects will be selected for funding and will receive €5,000 from Intel to complete their project.
The competition is open to any non-profit/non-government organisation or school in the Leixlip, Celbridge and Maynooth area that can help improve their community and implement the project within a 12 month period. To find out more and to complete an online application form please visit www.intel.ie/pop.

Deadline for competition submissions is Friday April 7th. Winners will be announced at a special event which will take place on May 11th.
