Throughout the year, Intel Ireland works closely with local volunteer groups, residents and community organisations to celebrate them and recognise the impact they have on the communities around them. One group in particular that we have supported for over 20 years are the senior citizens of Leixlip.
To spread some happiness over the Easter period and to say thank you for holding firm, Intel has been delivering special food hampers filled with Easter themed cakes and treats to the senior citizens in Leixlip over the past number of days.
The past year has been a particularly tough time for older people. For many, they have been cocooning and have been isolated from others. They have missed out on many of their usual parties and celebrations, such as the Intel annual senior citizens Christmas party, and Intel Ireland wanted to show our support to them.
Speaking about the Easter Hampers, local resident Patricia Costello said, “I would like to thank Intel and all the staff for yet again not forgetting about the Senior Citizens of Leixlip. It is a great feeling during difficult times that we are remembered. I look forward to eating these treats over the Easter weekend and hopefully look forward to meeting up at Christmas for the annual dance”.
Intel’s External Relations Manager Lisa Harlow added, “our local senior citizens are such an important part of the community here in Leixlip. We know that this has been a particularly hard time for people and not least of all the older people in our community. We are hopeful that as the year goes on we will have a lot more to look forward to but, for now, we hope this small gesture will bring some happiness over Easter”.
