On Wednesday November 30th Intel’s Annual Senior Citizen’s Christmas Party took place, an evening where seniors from the local community and a team of Intel volunteers come together to celebrate the festive season. This was the 18th year of the party which is a special occasion both for local residents and for the Intel employees who take part.
This year over 250 guests from across Leixlip attended the event at the Springfield Hotel.
Before the meal was served, Father Peter Clancy, Confey Parish Priest, brought everyone together for a short moments silence to say grace. Shortly afterwards, a traditional dinner of turkey and ham was served to guests. This was followed by dessert and once the band began to play, everyone was eager to hit the dancefloor.
Bobby Harpur and the rest of the band kept the crowd entertained for the night, playing all time classics such as ‘New York, New York’ and ‘Proud Mary’. Everyone was on their feet, and only retired to their seats for the beginning of the raffle, where five spot prizes were presented to five lucky guests.
Most guests remained on the dancefloor until the night came to a close and as guests left they were presented with a box of chocolates by the Intel volunteers.
In the lead up to Christmas Intel will support a number of events and activities including a shoebox appeal and Turkey Trot fun run for the local Vincent de Paul organisation and the Meals on Wheels Christmas lunch on December 7th.
