Friday the 8th of April 2016 marked Ireland’s second National Workplace Wellbeing day. The campaign itself, which is organised by the Nutrition & Health Foundation (NHF) with support from Ibec, aims to improve employee health through promoting better physical activity and nutrition in the workplace. This year hundreds of organisations across the public and private sector participated in the campaign.
In celebration of Workplace Wellbeing Day 2016, and to coincide with the nationwide activities, Intel decided to extend the one day event to a week-long program packed full of wellbeing events to ensure all employees had the chance to participate. The week itself involved a wide variety of activities and events to help employees learn about all the wellbeing options available to them onsite all year round.
Some of the events that took place at our site in Leixlip from Monday 4th to Friday the 8th of April included:

In addition to the scheduled activities a number of other initiatives took place during the week such as a Healthy Recipe Competition where employees were asked to submit their healthy recipe with the best submissions being added to the lunch menu. The week also saw the launch of specially designed ‘Fuel Your Life’ Performance Snacks and dedicated Smoothie Bar as well as the launch of a Smoking Cessation programme and the running of a number of special fitness challenges for employees which were held in the onsite gym. Intel employees were also encouraged to walk a mile together as part of the country wide “Lunchtime Mile” event on Friday April 8th which got Ireland’s workforce up and moving on National Workplace Wellbeing Day.
