Lord Mayor of Belfast welcomes further jobs boost to technology sector
BELFAST, Northern Ireland, 2nd May, 2014 – Intel Corporation today celebrated the first year of successful operations of its Software and Services Group in Belfast, and welcomed Councillor Máirtín Ó Muilleoir, Lord Mayor of Belfast, to officially open their newly refurbished offices at Clarendon Dock.
Intel is continuing to invest in its Belfast facility, which focuses on next-generation computing solutions, and leading edge technologies essential for the “Internet of Things”. Intel has been greatly impressed by the level of skill and talent available in the local software professional labour market and is growing and developing the Belfast site further. Over the last year employee numbers have grown by 21% at the site, and similar growth levels are anticipated for 2014.
Speaking at Intel Belfast Councillor Máirtín Ó Muilleoir said “The commitment shown by Intel is testament to its confidence in the highly skilled software professionals available in our high growth technology sector boost. It’s my conviction that Belfast now boasts the fastest-growing knowledge economy in Europe and the phenomenal investment planned by Intel in coming years will only enhance our proposition”.
