The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on communities all across Ireland as they deal with many unexpected challenges. Though apart for now, we continue to work closely with organisations in our local community to support them at this time and help them to deliver vital services.
We recently worked together with the Leixlip-Celbridge municipal district council to understand if there were any practical supports that could be provided to assist local businesses as they work through the new requirements that impact on how they conduct their business.
One specific area on which Intel worked together with the council was to support the provision of protective screens that can be used as a practical safety measure as local businesses begin to welcome customers back into their stores.
The Intel Fab Construction Enterprise team worked together with our main construction contractor – Exyte – to construct these Perspex screens which have now been delivered to local business premises.
Speaking about the initiative, Padraic O’Meara, Construction Manager at Intel said; “The Leixlip / Celbridge District councillors had explained to us some of the challenges that would be facing the smaller local businesses as they prepared to re-open their doors. One practical support that they advised of was Perspex style protective screens that could be positioned between the customer and the shop assistant. The transparent panel provides a safety partition between those working in the stores and the customers shopping there. We got together some members of our Fab Enterprise Construction team and working with our main contractor, set about building the Perspex screens. We constructed the panel in such a way that its movable and therefore could be put in place as needed by the shop owner. The counter screen is designed with a cut-out at the base so that other retailers can pass through a purchased product, for example, or allow customers to pay. We’re happy to able able to work with our local community and provide this practical support which I hope will support their return to business”.
