Intel student prize awarded at Northern Ireland Science Fair 2011
Sentinus Young Innovators is the principal science and innovation fair in Northern Ireland and is one of the largest events of its kind in the UK. It provides a showcase for students to demonstrate a wealth of creativity and innovation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
The fair attracts students from both North and South of Ireland and Intel Ireland is a major supporter of the event, sponsoring the premier award at the Fair – ‘The Sentinus Young Innovator’. Intel also provides a teacher award and judging for the event.
Henrik Bruesecke, a 17-year-old student at St Columba’s Comprehensive School in Donegal, was awarded the title of ‘Sentinus Young Innovator 2011’ for his innovative ICT workload management programme. Henrik developed an OpenCl program to optimise the performance of his computer workload by distributing the workload between multiple processors dynamically between CPU and GPU.
For his award Henrik will receive an all expenses paid trip to attend and exhibit at Intel ISEF 2012 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. His teacher Ms Kathleen Molloy also received the Intel educator of excellent award and also receives an all expenses paid trip to attend at Intel ISEF 2012.
Henrik is a past winner of the Intel SciFest@Letterkenny Institute of Technology and also a category award winner at BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.
